Founded in 1994 by the Sigrist family, Bull Country Compost has evolved from a humble family business into a leading provider of high-quality, all-natural compost in Northeast Ohio. Our journey began on our 300-acre farm in Dundee, driven by a vision to transform excess manure from our dairy herd into valuable organic matter.
Our initial venture into composting was experimental, learning to balance factors like manure type, composting techniques, and weather impacts. Today, our state-of-the-art facility includes 10 composting vessels, 3 curing sheds, and a dedicated bagging shed, all managed by our team of dedicated employees.
Our process involves placing manure in composting vessels for 6-8 weeks, where it reaches temperatures exceeding 150 degrees to eliminate weed seeds and harmful pathogens. The compost then cures for 6-8 months, allowing nutrient stabilization. Our meticulous screening process ensures a clump-free product, available in both bagged and bulk formats.
Responding to the Growing Demand: With the increasing awareness of the benefits of organic-rich components for gardens, lawns, and landscaping, Bull Country Compost has expanded significantly. We are proud to be one of the largest Class III family-owned and operated composting facilities in the region, specializing in nutrient-dense soil conditioners.
Although we shifted from dairy to heifer raising in 2013, and now have transitioned to beef production, the farm continues to supply some of the manure used in our composting process. We also source manure from neighboring dairy and horse farms, bringing in over 150 tons per week. This commitment to using 100% animal manure, devoid of filler materials, ensures a high nutrient profile for our compost.

Utilizing farmer-engineered conveyor equipment, our skilled team efficiently bags and prepares the compost, maintaining a remarkable rate of production. This efficiency underscores our commitment to providing accessible, eco-friendly gardening solutions to our community.
